H. Rochelle Stachel did not pick the most opportune time to launch a business. She had two kids in college and a lucrative job, and it seemed as if there was no logical reason for her to shake up the status quo.
But Stachel saw an opportunity — the lack of customer service in the area of inspection practices for the nation’s infrastructure such as roads and bridges, stadiums and arenas, oil and gas facilities, power stations, and commercial construction.
Stachel wanted to fill that gap. Her inner drive and desire to conquer any challenge, especially those that no one thought she could overcome, left her no choice but to “go for it.”
She launched HRV Conformance Verification Associates Inc. in 2003. The company’s president and founder faced a number of obstacles from a lack of funding to being the new kid on the block in a realm where companies were already wellestablished and predominantly led by men.
Stachel was not intimidated a bit. As she took care of her family, Stachel went to work building her business with people who had a similar level of motivation to her own. She wanted people who relished challenges and would set high goals for their own efforts.
Mentoring would be key, and Stachel was ready and willing to offer her expertise and thoughts on how to provide great service in the inspection industry and make hers a company of choice.
