As Etactics reminds the companies that visit its website: “It’s all about getting paid!” And the customer-driven company is true to its word when it comes to executing this motto for its clients.
President Michael Teutsch co-founded Etactics Inc. as a billing service for the health care market. But under his leadership, the company has grown beyond transmitting medical claims and insurance payments for hospitals to helping a variety of corporate and health care customers with document generation and delivery for almost any time-sensitive print in electronic document.
Because the company’s clients primarily operate in the health care market — hospitals, physicians, billing services and so on — Etactics understands that they need to deliver, track and edit patient invoices and statements efficiently and cost-effectively on a daily basis to manage their cash flow — i.e., get paid. So the company has designed solutions to help them automate these areas as well as other manual efforts, for example, tasks such as charity implementation policies. As a result, the company has helped health care providers across the country improve their cash flow and alleviate some of the headaches in managing accounts receivable and invoicing and statement processes. Today, its electronic data clearinghouse connects providers to more than 1,200 payers nationwide. And in 2011, it processed more than 30 million transactions, approximately 10 million more than in 2008.
For Teutsch, much of the company’s success comes down to its ability to provide outstanding customer service for clients, without which, no customer would be satisfied. He continues to guide the company by perpetuating values such as getting it right the first time, keeping customers informed and helping them get paid quickly and accurately guide employees day in and day out. It’s why Etactics has nearly doubled its employee base over the last five years. And going into the next 12 months, it expects to bring on several more employees in order to help fuel this business growth and contribute to the local economy. With its competitive health benefits package and 401(k) matching for its staff, which currently is at 100 percent employee participation, the company is also an employer of choice for its 37 full-time and nine part-time employees.
As the company expands its reach outside of Summit County, it’s looking to its local partners and community to plan and execute its next steps. For one, fast growth has spurred the company to invest in new talent. But on the innovation side, Etactics has taken significant steps to add new value for its health care and corporate clients over the past few years. The launch of its new clearinghouse software system in 2011 has enabled Etactics to provide its clearinghouse services to small and medium-sized hospitals. Completing new upgrades of customer access and patient access portals is another way it’s enhanced its electronic delivery system for hospital users. In addition, Teutsch and his team have relied on Western Reserve Bank and the city of Stow, home to Etactics headquarters, to develop strategies for its future growth. Keeping the company on the growth path has required it to outsource some areas outside of its core competencies, such as HR, as well as update its technology. The company recently moved its business to the cloud.
Etactics has made its home in Northeast Ohio’s Summit County since its inception in 1999. And with more than 2,000 clients today, the EDI and print services company is just as committed to its roots as it continues to expand and grow its services for clients. As a six-time winner of the Cascade Capital Business Growth Award, Etactics is repeatedly recognized for the role it plays in the contributing to the economic growth and vitality of Northeast Ohio.
