Service, Sales Growth
When local tire companies needed a broader range of services in the Akron area, the Rayl family quickly stepped in to fill the niche. Today, the small family company that started out serving these businesses has grown to provide a range of freight and logistics services for them and other customers nationwide.
Since 1987, J. Rayl Transport has been expanding its footprint within and outside of Northeast Ohio to add terminals in terminals in Columbus, Danville, Virginia, Wytheville, Virginia, Houston, , and Dallas, as well as 200 hundred trucks and 600 trailers throughout the U.S.
Although the Rayl family has continued to expand J. Rayl Transport’s physical footprint, it remains focused on the values that helped make the small business a big success. As CEO of the full-service transportation company, Jeremy Rayl now leads the third-generation, family owned and operated business in its mission to support its customers’ transportation needs. Aside from his responsibilities as CEO, Rayl stays personally involved in the communities where J. Rayl operations, participating in a number of industry associations, including Vistage Group, the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), The American Trucking Associations, and The Ohio Trucking Association. He also works with charitable organizations such as The Haven of Rest.
Today, all three generations of the family company remain actively involved in the business and upholding J. Rayl’s family culture. Employing more than 250 people, the company’s leaders know that it’s important to create a work environment that’s fun and engaging, but that also provides career development opportunities for people to grow within the transportation industry. Having this vibrant culture where employees are excited about innovation has helped the company continue to execute its mission for delivering creative transportation solutions. As a result, J. Rayl has driven growth at a rate of nearly 20 percent every year since 2007. By constantly raising its standards in improving transportation services for customers, the company aims to become a top 100 transportation provider in the future.
