Robert Randall and TRACO Inc. have tackled some of the most challenging architectural and restoration projects imaginable, not the least of which was the replacement of the windows in the Statue of Liberty during that monument’s $30 million restoration.

While those kinds of high-profile projects can put a company on the map, the luster they bring doesn’t last forever, and Randall knew that the company needed to stay at the head of the technology parade to continue to remain competitive. Randall is keeping TRACO, with 2006 revenue of $120 million, at the cutting edge by leading it to design and develop technologies that will provide more energy-efficient products to meet the standards of more demanding building codes. Its most recent example of innovative products is the NRG line of energy-efficient windows.

Randall’s contributions to the vibrancy of the community haven’t been limited to his activities as head of TRACO. The president and CEO of the door and window company stays engaged in the local and national business communities through his work with the United States Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and of the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance.

Randall has also served on the boards of the Civic Light Opera, Life’s Work and La Roche College.

Determined to keep the company in the hands of a third generation of Randalls, he has established a succession plan to ensure a smooth transition of leadership to his children, an effort that has won recognition by the University of Pittsburgh’s Family Enterprise Center. Brett Randall is executive vice president of sales and marketing, and Chris Randall is production manager at TRACO’s Miami facility. Randall’s daughter, Robin, is TRACO’s vice president of marketing.
