D. Raja likes to talk about the value of honesty and good character for success in business as much as he likes to talk about the success of the company he co-founded. He believes the two go hand in hand.

For Raja, hiring people with strong character and integrity has been critical in growing Computer Enterprises Inc. into a company that has made the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing companies three times. CEI has passed the $40 million mark in annual revenue and continues to experience strong growth.

But even powerful moral character isn’t enough to make a business a success. To ensure that CEI’s profitability is as solid as its principles, Raja has engendered a culture of continuous improvement, cost containment and a focus on remaining nimble enough to meet the challenges of the marketplace.

Raja has developed processes that match consultants with the client’s project needs and provide the proper support for each. In its virtual project management program, each consultant has access to four CEI support staff members per project to provide technical, human resources, management and accounting support.

And Raja has insisted on flawless execution as the path to success. The most brilliant plan and strategy will fail with poor execution, he believes, while the simplest ideas can be turned into shining successes with the right follow-through.

Raja also believes that dedicating time and effort to clients deserves more than lip service. Leading by example, he continues to meet with clients himself to maintain relationships and to make sure CEI is in position to serve their needs.
