Reporting For A Cure

When Race for the Cure came to Cleveland in 2012, 19 Action News did more than just report from the sidelines. That year, the news team worked with Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio and brought its cause and message of early detection to the attention of its viewers.
19 Action News made it its mission to spread awareness and motivation in the community. The news team utilized its strength of producing commercials, public service announcement’s and feature stories, as well as hosting a phone bank and promoting the events on social media and its website. It also hosted two Race for the Cure events before race day.
On race day, the 19 Action News team was on hand to ensure that the 2012 Race For The Cure Cleveland and Akron Race for the Cure were a success. Its reporters emceed the survivor ceremony and rang the bells to announce the official start of the race. Anchors also interviewed survivors, teams and volunteers live on the morning news.
In 2014, 19 Action New continued its dedication by becoming the official media partner of the Akron and Cleveland Race for the Cure events. “Team 19” was also formed, adding to its fundraising efforts.
