ADM names Woertz president, CEO

Archer Daniels Midland Co. named Patricia A. Woertz president, CEO and member of the board of directors, succeeding G. Allen Andreas, who remains as chairman of the board.

Woertz most recently was executive vice president of Chevron Corp., in charge of the oil company’s refining, marketing, lubricant, supply and trading businesses in 180 countries, with more than $100 billion in annual revenues and a global work force of 30,000. Woertz was one of the highest-ranking executives in the energy industry.

Prior to becoming executive vice president at Chevron, Woertz was president of Chevron Products Co., a position she assumed after serving as president of Chevron International Oil Co. and a vice president of logistics and trading for Chevron Products Co. Prior to that, she held several other positions with Chevron, including president of Chevron Canada Ltd., finance manager of Chevron Information Technology Co. and head of strategic planning at Chevron.

Woertz earned a bachelor of science degree from Pennsylvania State University and is a graduate of Columbia University’s International Executive Development Program. She serves on the board of trustees of the University of San Diego and on the board of visitors of Pennsylvania State University. In addition, she was formerly a director of the American Petroleum Institute. Fortune magazine has named Woertz one of the top 10 most powerful women in business every year since 2000.

NUVEEN INVESTMENTS
Nuveen Investments named Glenn Richter chief administrative officer. This new senior management position supports the company’s significant recent growth and future development efforts.

Richter previously was executive vice president and CFO of RR Donnelley & Sons in Chicago. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and CFO of Sears, Roebuck and Co. and chairman of Sears Canada, a publicly traded affiliate of Sears.

Richter’s professional background also includes finance and strategy positions at Dade Behring, a global medical diagnostics firm, and PepsiCo, after starting his career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co.

ENESCO GROUP
Enesco Group Inc.’s board of directors appointed David C. du Four as its newest board member and member of the audit committee.

Du Four is the former general manager of Labsphere Inc., a worldwide supplier of light measurement equipment, where he assisted in turning the company into a more profitable and focused business.

Prior to joining Labsphere, du Four was the COO of Marine Optical, vice president of industrial sales and marketing for North America for Polaroid Corp., and he held various sales and marketing positions with increasing responsibility with Westinghouse Electric.

Du Four holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

GRUBB & ELLIS CO.
Grubb & Ellis Co. appointed Robert Slaughter, a veteran transactional attorney, executive vice president and general counsel.

Slaughter is responsible for directing the company’s legal strategy, corporate governance, and operational and legal best practices. He reports to Mark Rose, CEO.

Most recently, Slaughter was a partner in the Chicago office of the law firm of Jenner & Block, where he advised clients with respect to corporate, securities, governance and commercial matters. Prior to joining Jenner & Block, he served as vice president and general counsel of Moore Corp. Ltd., and a business unit vice president and general counsel at Ameritech Corp. Before joining Ameritech, Slaughter was a partner at the Chicago-based law firm of Keck, Mahin & Cate.

Slaughter earned a law degree from The University of Chicago Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University.

LAWSON PRODUCTS INC.
Lawson Products Inc. promoted Stewart Howley to senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Howley is responsible for all corporate marketing endeavors including merchandising. He also oversees nonagent multichannel sales and marketing, as well as acquisition and new market development.

The company also promoted Lisa Kaplan to vice president of marketing, where she continues to direct the expanding government sales and Web initiatives.

In addition, Lawson hired Michelle Russell as vice president of corporate affairs. She also participates in the Marketing and Merchandising Council and leads the newly formed Supply Chain Management Council.

THE WM WRIGLEY JR. CO.
The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. named Martin Schlatter vice president and chief marketing officer. In this newly created role, Schlatter is accountable for Wrigley’s global marketing, development of the company’s worldwide marketing strategy and identification of new avenues to reach consumers.

Schlatter previously served as the general manager for Wrigley’s U.S. business, where he drove outstanding sales and marketing results. Schlatter joined Wrigley in 2002 and has held various senior management positions within the company.

Prior to joining Wrigley, he was in leadership positions at Lindt Chocolates in Switzerland and at Procter & Gamble in Germany and the United Kingdom.
