On May 28, the Greater Akron Chamber honored four area businesses with the 2015 Excellence in Business Awards at the Sheraton Akron/Cuyahoga Falls. Created by the Greater Akron Chamber’s Small Business Council in 1982, the awards are presented to a company or companies that demonstrate outstanding performance, growth, staying power, innovation and proven leadership in the community.
The SBC promotes and represents the interests of businesses with 250 or fewer employees in Medina, Portage and Summit Counties. The members of the SBC provide oversight and strategic counsel relative to the Excellence in Business Awards, membership and advocacy work led by the Greater Akron Chamber.
This year’s recipients have accomplished amazing feats, from Advanced Health & Wellness Center, which grew from one location in Wadsworth in 2010 to opening additional locations in Northeast Ohio, Pittsburgh and Tennessee; to Band of Brothers Restoration, which employs local military veterans and has seen exponential growth since opening in 2013. We are also honored to recognize Catastrophe Management Solutions, which provided over 600 call center staff to assist in claim processing during Hurricane Sandy; and Ascot Valley Foods, a partner to national companies such as The Darden Restaurant Group, Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart as well as numerous local businesses.
The mission of the Greater Akron Chamber is to drive economic development and prosperity for the people of the Greater Akron region. We believe that the four recipients of the 2015 Excellence in Business Awards exemplify that mission.
