Akron-based wholesale food distributor, The Tasty Pure Food Co., has acquired J.B. McCoy Co. of Canton. The acquisition will allow Tasty Pure to provide a wider variety of food products to institutions and restaurants. The company will remain at its newly expanded Akron headquarters.
The Belden Brick Co.
The Canton-based company received an award for Outstanding Advertising from a New York state-based research firm. The Ad-Q Award, given by Harvey Research Inc. of Fairport, N.Y., recognizes advertisements that generate exceptional readership response in a given market. The Belden Brick advertisement, “Bring it to Life,” pictorially demonstrates the options the company offers to architects and contractors who wish to use brick in a building application. The ad has appeared in a number of industry-related publications.
Unizan Financial
The merger of BancFirst Ohio Corp. and UNB Corp. was completed in early March, creating a new company, Unizan Financial Corp., which began trading on NASDAQ on March 8. The new corporation is headquartered in Canton and operates 45 retail financial centers throughout Ohio.
