Epic success

When Mark Milewicz thought
there was a better way for manufacturers to supply automotive suppliers, others discouraged him,
saying the cost to achieve critical mass
to enter the market would be too difficult.

But Milewicz was
not dissuaded. He
founded Epic Equipment & Engineering
Inc. in 1997 to provide a source for
high-quality special
machines and automation with a concentration on automotive plastics assembly.

“I believe that as long as you make a
quality product, you will always be
successful — no one can ever take
that away from you,” he says.

Business was slow getting started
and the company was burning
through cash, but Milewicz, who
serves as president of Epic, took this
time to find key employees — those
who would do whatever it took to
make it work — who would help him
grow the company. And with those
critical people in place, the company
began to get orders as customers
started to recognize its quality and
responsiveness.

Despite turmoil in the automotive
supply community, Epic continued to
grow and moved into a 28,000-square-foot building. And it invested in
equipment and personnel that give
Epic the ability to provide innovative
solutions to customers’ needs. As
Epic’s creative and technical ability
continue to serve its customers, it is
being invited to participate with
those companies in global projects,
further fueling its continued growth.
