Federal Home Loan Bank names Price CEO

Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh named John R. Price president and CEO following the retirement of James D. Roy.

Previously, Price worked as senior adviser to the Institute of International Finance (IIF) in Washington, D.C., a global bank with 340 banks and central banks as members. For the IIF, he organized and presented educational programs for directors of financial institutions on corporate governance issues such as regulatory framework, audit and internal controls, and risk management. He also sought corporate finance opportunities here and abroad through the International Financial Development Corp., of which he was president and CEO.

Prior to that, Price spent 29 years at what is now JP Morgan Chase & Co. in New York, where he held various line and staff positions, including senior vice president of Manufacturers Hanover Corp. While in the investment banking group, he led the team advising the U.S. government on the securitization of $5 billion of community development and rural low-income housing loans, and he created a servicing company to handle the housing loans. He spent his last years there running government relations worldwide, including state, local, federal and international relations.

Price earned his bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College in Iowa, then was named a Rhodes Scholar, earning advanced degrees from Queens College at Oxford University in development economics and diplomatic history. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School. He is a life trustee of Grinnell College and was the founding chairman of Americans for Oxford.

SOUTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA COMMISSION
The Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission elected Bracken Burns as chair and Dan Onorato as vice chair.

Burns is a Washington County commissioner. He earned his degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and attended the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated from the Rural Affairs Leadership Program at Penn State University.

Onorato is Allegheny County chief executive. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University. He worked several years as a CPA before earning his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

He spent nearly two decades as a leader in the technology consulting industry, working most recently as a vice president of business development for a global IT service firm and heading its Northeast region. He also serves on several advisory boards for local startup organizations, consulting in a variety of business functions, and has been active assisting with fund-raising with angel investor networks.

ACCESS DATA CORP.
Access Data Corp. appointed Len Brush chief information officer and vice president of Access Managed Services. He manages Access Data’s technology center at RIDC Park, which handles information for many of the nation’s leading mutual fund servicing companies.

Brush joins Access Data following a career in higher education technology with Carnegie Mellon University, Penn State University and Loyola University in Chicago, where he managed strategic planning, the implementation and operation of information systems and information security.

PITT OHIO EXPRESS
PITT OHIO EXPRESS hired Jim Fields as vice president of operations.

Fields worked for Consolidated Freightways in various operations and sales positions for nine years, and for the past 14 years, has worked for Menlo Logistics (a subsidiary of CNF Cos.) in various sales positions, including vice president global sales and marketing. He also served as an officer at Menlo Logistics for seven years.

JACK HORNER COMMUNICATIONS INC.
Jack Horner Communications Inc. added two vice presidents to its Pittsburgh office. Rowene Romestan was promoted from office manager. Prior to joining the JHC, she worked for Water Consultants Laboratories in Tempe, Ariz., as office manager, and for Chemical Technologies in Phoenix.

Ellen Wein joined JHC with more than 20 years of experience in marketing communications and public relations. She most recently worked as vice president for EURO RSCG Magnet. She also served as vice president for Jampole Communications of Pittsburgh. Wein was awarded the national PRSA Silver Anvil Award of Excellence in marketing business-to-business products.

T.W. PHILLIPS GAS AND OIL CO.
T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Co. promoted Andrew P. Wachter to assistant vice president of finance. He is responsible for directing the company’s financial policies and overseeing all financial functions, including accounting, purchasing, budget, credit, tax and treasury. He also participates in regulatory matters and business-related decision making.

Wachter earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting and an MBA from Duquesne University.
