From the hearts of our sponsors

Rea & Associates Inc.

Supporting our community is an integral part of our firm’s culture. We are active in the 11 communities in which our offices are located, providing volunteer support as well as monetary support.

Rea & Associates Inc. has a value statement, called “The Rea Way,” In part, it reads: “Invest in your family, your community and your future.” Giving back is one of the values upon which this firm was founded, and our employees continue to embrace that sentiment. The firm also has a foundation in which it puts money each year and then makes charitable donations to local communities from that fund.

Annually, our team members collect food during an annual holiday food drive and then we donate that food to a local charity in each office’s community. The food drive features a friendly competition between the offices for bragging rights and a dress-down day. The initiative is in process right now, and we’re hoping to top the 12 tons of food that was collected and donated last year. We also held a “Rea Goes Red” day to raise money for cancer, in which each team member wore red clothing (and jeans) in return for a donation.

Most importantly, our team members are encouraged to become involved in their local communities. Because they not only work but also live in the area, these individuals have a vested interest in helping their communities. Really, we don’t have to use a hard sell for philanthropy here at Rea — it’s a big part of our culture.

McDonald Hopkins

Philanthropy is a very important part of our company’s culture. We recognize that we have a responsibility to help make a difference where we live and work. Accordingly, we encourage all of our people to develop and apply their talents to serve not only our clients and firm but our communities, as well. Our people devote significant volunteer hours, and the firm consistently contributes considerable financial resources to help ensure the strength of our communities.

We have an ongoing commitment to supporting a variety of important community service projects and nonprofit organizations. The challenging economic environment has not changed our commitment to community service. The needs are greater and we continue to contribute both financially and with volunteer hours to more than 150 nonprofit organizations. As a 2009 United Way Pacesetter company, we exceeded our goal in advance of the Pacesetter kickoff date. In addition to group projects, McDonald Hopkins works with Business Volunteers Unlimited to train and place our attorneys on boards where they are passionate about a need in the community and can make a positive impact.

We typically support organizations that have some relationship to our firm, our employees, our clients or organizations in which our attorneys play a meaningful role.

It is important for other organizations to have their own commitment to giving back to the community because the more we give to the community, the more we get back. The power of giving is that it returns unquantifiable dividends.

Fairmount Minerals

At Fairmount Minerals, our mission is to conduct business in a way that respects people and the environment while working toward increasing the prosperity of our shareholders, employees, customers, communities and the global environment. Therefore, connecting with our communities and our long-standing commitment to corporate social responsibility is vitally important as we ensure that the stakeholders we touch receive the resources they need to live and prosper.

When companies discuss corporate social responsibility, it is often in terms of social or philanthropic efforts — where does the company donate to the community? Do employees volunteer for any organizations? But, for Fairmount Minerals, it is strategic corporate social responsibility. This encompasses a much broader scope of work. We have adopted socially responsible practices — not only investing in charitable organizations, but we have policies and procedures in place that value the employee and all stakeholders. For Fairmount Minerals, the “people” aspect of the 3 P’s (people, planet and prosperity) translates into respectful business practices, attention to stakeholder needs and responsible operations.

Fairmount’s social investment policy, FairSharing, guides our actions with respect to charitable donations and corporate volunteerism. Our areas of focus are education, health and wellness, and the environment.

Fairmount Minerals realizes that our company is only as strong as the communities in which we operate. Thriving communities help pave the way for a brighter, more prosperous future. At Fairmount Minerals, connecting with our communities is vitally important to supporting our business sustainability — and making a difference in the world.

CVS Caremark

Corporate philanthropy is a hallmark of CVS Caremark. One example is the CVS Pharmacy Foundation’s focus on children with disabilities through the “All Kids Can” campaign, a five-year, $25 million commitment to making life easier for children with disabilities. The program supports nonprofit organizations that provide innovative programs and services in local communities focused on helping children with disabilities learn, play and succeed in life.

In addition to the foundation, CVS sponsors individuals and stores in charitable giving. That is, an individual who volunteers can get a grant or a store can receive a larger grant amount.

Also, CVS Caremark subscribes to corporate responsibility and encourages giving in multiple ways, including allowing managers in different markets the latitude to respond to their community needs. CVS Caremark strongly supports the foundation’s work, which has national partnerships with organizations such as Easter Seals. Such partnerships multiply the dollars and maximize the effectiveness more than an individual company effort.

Further, employees are encouraged to give to the United Way. We believe it’s is important for other companies to give back to the community, as well, because the problems in communities are so large that just one company or organization cannot do it alone. Developing partnerships with nonprofit, faith-based and other civic organizations allows companies to increase the availability of resources exponentially.

Fifth Third Bank

Fifth Third Bank’s culture promotes philanthropy and corporate giving and encourages the companies we support to consistently give back to the community. While we provide financial services that enable communities to grow and prosper, we also support them through philanthropy. We work hard to provide a better tomorrow for the communities that we serve. This commitment to the community has endured for more than 150 years, due in large part to influential company leaders who wholeheartedly supported arts, health and human services, education, and community development initiatives.

Fifth Third is proud to have provided more than $1 million (in the form of foundation grants, local donations and in-kind donations) to deserving organizations in Northeast Ohio in each of the past two years. This is a testament to the dedication we have to the enrichment of Northeast Ohio.

At Fifth Third, the belief is that building a stronger community helps build a stronger bank. In 1948, Fifth Third became one of the first financial institutions in the country to establish a corporate foundation. The Foundation Office reviews hundreds of funding proposals and requests for assistance from nonprofit entities and works strategically to align private and corporate contributions to affect the greatest and most positive change possible. In addition, Fifth Third’s philanthropic efforts are also composed of corporate gifts, sponsorships, partnering with organiza
t
ions, individual donations, monetary grants and promoting community development initiatives. Today, Fifth Third continues to invest the time, resources and people to help build a better tomorrow in the communities that we serve.

Le Chaperon Rouge

At Le Chaperon Rouge, we believe that stable, loving households are the foundation to any strong community and development of a child. Our philanthropic efforts are aimed at families and children, and the initiatives we undertake strive to achieve those goals.

When the economy turned, causing working families to struggle because of job losses, we stepped up to assist parents who may have lost their job as a result of cutbacks. In 2009, we developed a program that allowed parents who were in the process of seeking employment and going out on job interviews to drop their children off at Le Chaperon Rouge at no cost while they went to job interviews.

We advertised this service on the radio to create awareness of the opportunities so that parents no longer had to choose between finding a job and taking care of their children.

Giving back is engrained in the fabric of our organization and within all of the employees at our eight locations. We understand that it is imperative to give back to the communities where we live and work. When your business benefits from those communities, it is our true belief that you must return some of what you receive. This keeps the cycle moving forward and helps strengthen families and, ultimately, comes to back to benefit us all.

Think Media Studios

Think Media Studios is honored to support the Pillar Awards for the fourth year. Brian Glazen opened the doors to Think Media only four years ago and quickly the community of Northeast Ohio opened its doors to this young thriving company. Think Media encourages giving back to the community that has so warmly welcomed them. Brian and his employees believe that growth comes from a spark within and so, it is their philosophy to make a positive and lasting change in the community by not only sharing their expertise and resources but also their time. Among the organizations they have worked with to impact change are the Cleveland Clinic, Progressive and ICI Paints.

Hughie’s Audio-Visual

It is our philosophy at Hughie’s Audio-Visual to support and give back to the organizations and companies that have helped us grow. Whether in the form of equipment donations or monetary contributions, it is our way of saying thank you to those who have put their trust in us to professionally handle their presentation needs.

We also recognize that, by supporting community projects and activities, we can enhance our community’s reputation and, in turn, help stimulate new business from which we all can benefit. Over the past few years, we have contributed to companies in the Greater Cleveland community through volunteerism and financial support. They, in turn, have been able to help people in need, and for that, we are grateful.
