Government procurement opportunities

Government procurement is big business — the federal government spends nearly $200 billion each year for products and services. Yet only 2 percent of those contracts are being awarded to women-owned businesses currently. More and more women, however, are recognizing this unique opportunity for growing their businesses, so the women’s conference has put together an extensive “MarketPlace” exhibit area where attendees can learn more about contracting opportunities with government agencies and corporate prime contractors.

This year’s “MarketPlace” participants include:

  • Allegheny County Department of Economic Development;

  • Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN);

  • Allegheny Energy;

  • AXA Advisors;

  • Bureau of Contract Administration & Business Development;

  • Commonwealth of PA;

  • Department of Corrections;

  • Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC);

  • Defense Contracts Management Command (DCMC);

  • Department of Public Welfare;
