Independent voice

Jeff Hanson, Tom Barratt and Andy Birol are angry entrepreneurs on a mission. With extensive start-up and business growth experience, the trio recognized the difficulty small- to mid-sized entrepreneurs have getting their voices heard, and joined together to address the situation.

Their venture, Independent Entrepreneur, is designed to give businesses a voice and a model to move from subsistence to success.

“We want to help independent entrepreneurs everywhere, no matter what their business product may be or what service they offer,” says Hanson, known for his work at the Ohio Innovation Fund.

Birol, owner of Birol Growth Consulting, says he’s been able to track and document a unique and proven set of success steps called Accelerators.

“We are committed to teaching fellow entrepreneurs what they need to know, getting them to adapt their behaviors and helping them embrace and adopt the right tools,” he says. “If these things happen, if they follow the steps in order, then they will easily enjoy a multiple payback in terms of reward and success.”

Barratt, formerly of Ontimetraining.com, serves as IE president.

Beyond the tools, IE plans to publish a newsletter and offer a free test on its Web site (www.independententrepreneur.com) to gauge an individual entrepreneur’s success. IE will also deliver updates to keep entrepreneurs abreast of key topics, ask for their opinions and insights and offer new ways to improve their businesses.
