Meet Yash Semlani, an 8-year-old on the fast track to entrepreneurial greatness

Looking to the future

It probably doesn’t even need to be said that Yash aspires to have his own business someday, although in reality, he has already accomplished that goal.
“I have the correct foundation for it already, thanks to Lemonade Day,” Yash says. “As far as the type of business, I don’t know yet. But whatever it is, part of the profits will go to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged kids.”
He cites his father and Michael Holthouse, the founder of the Lemonade Day program, as his mentors.
“(Holthouse) has selflessly taken the responsibility of teaching entrepreneurship to millions of children worldwide,” Yash says. “I not only have a great deal of admiration but also respect for him. His vision and dedication behind the Lemonade Day program is the reason why I was able to benefit from the experience. Internally, it’s my father, who has been my guide, mentor, pillar and source of strength. He has put a lot of his own hobbies/interest on the back burner to support me in my mission.”
But Yash quickly reminds you that he’s not in this for his own personal glory and accolades with words of advice for other kids who may share his dreams.
“Follow your dreams and passion,” Yash says. “When you succeed in what you have set out to do, remember that there are more kids who unlike you, did not get the opportunity like you did. So take the responsibility for those children who are in their situation for no fault of their own and give back. Share your success and learning with them. The feeling of bringing a smile on a child’s face is priceless.”
