Model management

At Employee Health Insurance
Management, Mindi Fynke doesn’t measure success by revenue earnings. Rather,
the founder and president of EHIM counts
success by the well-being of her clients,
the happiness of her employees and the
positive impact she’s made on the community.

Fynke has made a difference in her industry by developing a new model in the prescription benefit health care arena. While
her competitors in the pharmacy benefit
management business followed a rebate-driven business model, in which a company accepts rebates from pharmaceutical
companies in return for driving up market
share, Fynke took a different path and has
never accepted a rebate. Instead, she has
emphasized total managed care, which
includes patient education, patient
resources and a focus on the disease, not
just the medication being prescribed.

Fynke has built an enduring organization
built on her ethics, loyalty, integrity and passion for old-fashioned customer service for
her 2 million members, putting EHIM in a
position of strength in a market in which
many of her competitors are now adopting
the model that she has practiced for 20 years.
She doesn’t believe anything is impossible
and is actively pursuing pioneering ideas
that will bring long-term solutions for the
rising costs of pharmaceuticals.

Fynke’s focus isn’t just on her company —
she is heavily involved in the community, as
well. She is a founding trustee of the Jewish
Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit
and contributes to organizations including
Hospice of Michigan and Children’s Hospital
of Michigan.
