Joe Kurzer joined Mills/James Productions as key account manager. He is responsible for managing retention and growth of target accounts, as well as for providing strategic and creative leadership on media and special event projects.

Executive Jet Management Inc. named John R. Nelson director of business systems, a newly formed position. Formerly with General Electric Aircraft Engines, Nelson is responsible for Executive Jet’s business operating system and for implementing an ISO certified quality management system.

David Clark, William Lee and Michael Sauer, founding partners of Dublin-based Compeer Partners LLC, have formed an investment company, Milestone Capital Group, that will make mezzanine investments in small and middle-market companies located primarily in Central Ohio. Milestone provides financing for recapitalizations, acquisitions, expansions and management or leveraged buyouts. It seeks to invest $500,000 to $1 million per transaction.

GreenScapes Landscape Co. promoted Jeff Williams to operations manager. He will oversee both the construction and maintenance divisions of the company. BJ Haffele was promoted to maintenance account manager.

inChord Communications was honored with “Best Self-Promotion” at the 2003 Manny Awards in New York City. The awards are sponsored by Med Ad News, a health care marketing publication, and recognize excellence among health care advertising agencies.

Two of Dublin Building Systems‘ Central Ohio construction projects won “Best of Category” awards in the international VP Buildings Hall of Fame Awards competition. DBS’s Nationwide Insurance Hangar and CARR Supply projects were recognized by fellow builders. These awards are presented annually to authorized Varco-Pruden buildings.

Columbus West Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center named Tara Venitsanos director of marketing. She has more than 20 years of health care experience, including marketing, pharmaceutical sales and as a certified respiratory therapist.

Dascenzo Creative Inc. won two national Telly Awards for “Strength,” a television commercial produced for “The Columbus Dispatch,” and “Miracles,” a video produced for Children’s Hospital to recognize corporate sponsors.

Tracy Jenkins, president of Amazing Gift Baskets Inc., was recognized by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council as a Women-Owned Business Star of 2003. Jenkins received the award in Washington, D.C.

Redleg’s, a logistical service company, acquired Alternative Trucking of Chicago. The acquisition gives Redleg’s a substantial presence in the Chicago market, the nation’s third largest trucking center.

The Franklin University Board of Trustees elected as new officers David D’Antoni, senior vice president for APAC & Valvoline, chairman of the board; Marsha Ryan, senior vice president of AEP system, Northern Energy, vice chairman; John Ruhlin, president of Economic Leasing Inc., continues as treasurer; and Gary James president of Dynalab Inc., continues as secretary. Floyd Jones, senior vice president of operations for the Columbus Dispatch is the board’s immediate past president and Paul Otte, president of Franklin University will serve as the board’s president.
