Sullivan named CEO of UnitedHealthcare

UnitedHealthcare named Thomas A. Sullivan CEO of its Northern Ohio/Western Pennsylvania region.

Sullivan, a 25-year veteran of the health care industry, is responsible for strategic initiatives and business operations, including sales, marketing, medical programs, community relations, product management and finance. In Ohio, the region includes Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Mansfield, Toledo and Youngstown; in Pennsylvania, it includes Pittsburgh, Erie and other areas in the western half of the state.

Sullivan most recently was president of QualChoice Health Plan and University CompCare. Earlier in his career, he was regional vice president of sales and marketing for UnitedHealthcare, where he focused on growing the customer base in Ohio. He began his career with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Ohio in 1979, ascending through the organization for the next 13 years. He also spent two years with FHP of Utah before returning to Ohio in 1997 to become a senior vice president of QualChoice.

Ceres Group Inc.

Ceres Group Inc. named Ernie Giambra executive vice president and chief marketing officer of both its medical and senior segments.

Giambra has 35 years of sales experience in the insurance industry. Most recently, he operated his own consulting business for the insurance industry and was also a financial adviser for Salomon Smith Barney (1998-2000) and Wachovia Securities (2000-2004). From 1993 to 1996, he was executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Pioneer Financial Services, and from 1969 to 1993 he held various sales and marketing positions, including vice president of sales, with Bankers Life and Casualty Co.

Interlake Industries Inc.

Lisa Habe was appointed president for Interlake Industries Inc., which specializes in short to medium run metal stampings with facilities in Ohio and Florida. Habe received her bachelor of arts degree from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania and is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Lake County Inc.

The James B. Oswald Co.

William E. Brancovsky was promoted to executive vice president of The James B. Oswald Co. He has been with the company since 1984 and is a property and casualty specialist with more than 15 years of experience in the insurance industry. His primary focus is on medical, behavioral health and nonprofit organizations.

American Spring Wire Corp.

Dale D. Olp was promoted to plant manager of the Bedford Heights facility of American Spring Wire. Olp joined the company in 2002 as a process development specialist for rolled and drawn shaped wire manufacturing. He also assumed management responsibilities in wire drawing, tooling, pickling, shaving and PC Strand.

Olp began his career at Contours Inc. and held positions including vice president of operations. Since that time, he has held other positions at Pittsburgh Tool, Hoskins Manufacturing Co. and as a consultant at Petersen Spring.

McKinney Advertising & Public Relations

Ryan Cross joined McKinney Advertising & Public Relations as vice president. Cross will provide senior account management and strategic counsel to McKinney’s nonprofit clients, concentrating on fund development campaigns integrated with marketing communications. His expertise lies in fund-raising, marketing and special event planning, specifically within higher education and health care institutions.

Through his knowledge in these areas, he has successfully created and executed comprehensive fund development plans, targeted campaigns and marketing communication efforts that have resulted in multi-millions of dollars in philanthropic giving. Prior to joining McKinney, he was employed by The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

GIE Media Inc.

James R. Keefe was promoted to vice president of GIE Media Inc., a privately held Cleveland-based producer of trade magazines.

Keefe has more than 15 years of media experience. He graduated from Ohio University in 1988 with a degree in business administration and started with GIE Media as a sales marketer. He has been responsible for leading GIE’s recycling media business development since 1997, when he became publisher of Recycling Today Media Group.

Keefe will maintain his publisher role while performing his duties as vice president and a member of the executive team.
