Daniel M. Sandberg, president of the automotive brake and powertrain components business unit at Hayes Lemmerz International Inc. assumed additional responsibility for the company’s materials and logistics group. Sandberg continues to report directly to Curtis Clawson, president, CEO and chairman of the board.
Sandberg joined Hayes in 1994 as vice president, general counsel and secretary. In 1996, he was given the additional responsibility of vice president of international operations. In 1999, Sandberg became president of the automotive brake components business unit, and in 2001, he assumed additional responsibility for the powertrain business unit.
Sandberg received both a bachelor of arts degree in economics and a law degree from the University of Michigan. He replaces Michael Edie, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
“I am pleased that Dan has agreed to assume these additional responsibilities,” says Clawson. “Dan brings with him a wide range of experience and a profound knowledge of the business. Additionally, over the past five years, he has successfully implemented several cost-effective material and logistics initiatives in the brake and powertrain group.”

DELPHI CORP.
Delphi Corp. appointed David A. Burgner as Delphi’s global customer director for General Motors Corp. Burgner is responsible for leading Delphi’s existing GM account team personnel to coordinate Delphi’s sales and service activities in support of GM.
Previously, Burgner was a Delphi Mechatronic Systems business line executive at Delphi Packard Electric Systems. He moved to that position following his assignment as managing director, Delphi Packard Electric Systems Europe, Middle East & Africa and Delphi Interior Systems Europe, based in Paris.
VALASSIS
Valassis named John Lieblang vice president and chief technology officer. In this newly created position, Lieblang is responsible for all of the company’s technology projects, initiatives and improvements, as well as business process re-engineering.
Lieblang’s experience in integrating business, management and technology assists Valassis in aligning business and technology goals to improve the development and execution of integrated solutions and capitalize on external opportunities.
Most recently, Lieblang was senior vice president of LogicaCMG, where he led efforts throughout North America and internationally. Throughout his career, Lieblang has held various positions, including eight years as partner and vice president at Cap Gemini Ernst and Young. He also performed several information technology roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
CLARK HILL PLC
Denise Ilitch joined Clark Hill PLC as of counsel. Ilitch provides counsel in all areas of business development and helps integrate corporate, government and public sectors for relevant industry-focused legal solutions.
Ilitch is president of Ilitch Enterprises, a privately held business with a focus on and investment in entrepreneurial ventures throughout the United States. Prior to that, she was president of Ilitch Holdings, the company that oversees the management and operations of Little Caesar Enterprises, the Detroit Red Wings, the Detroit Tigers, Olympia Entertainment and several other companies. She was also part of the team that joined prominent business leaders and government entities to create the vibrant entertainment and sports district in the heart of downtown Detroit.
Although Ilitch serves as an adviser to Clark Hill, she will continue to pursue other business endeavors. Ilitch earned her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Michigan and her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy.

John Holowaty joined Doner as vice president, account director. He is responsible for managing all aspects of the agency’s PNC Financial Services account, including account services, creative, broadcast production and media.
Prior to joining Doner, Holowaty was regional sales manager at CBSSportsLine.com, where he directed sales efforts and the official Web sites for the National Football League (NFL.com), the PGA Tour (PGATour.com) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAASports.com).
Holowaty spent 14 years with McCann-Erickson Worldwide, serving in various roles throughout North America, Latin America and Europe. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Michigan University.

PARSON CONSULTING
Parson Consulting appointed Bruce Ring practice director, governance and risk management. Ring was also elected Detroit chapter president for the Institute of Internal Auditors.
He has led major corporations in internal audit functions, risk assessments, regulatory compliance and fraud reviews.

Ring was formerly a senior manager of enterprise risk services for Deloitte & Touche. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Arthur Andersen, Ball Corp., KPMG and Montgomery Ward & Co. He is a CPA and has a B.B.A. in accounting from Western Michigan University.
