Gordon Hunter, chairman, president and CEO, Littelfuse Inc.

Gordon Hunter was already a highly respected industry leader when he came to Littelfuse Inc., first as a member of the board of directors, which he now leads as chairman. From there, he became the COO and, in 2005, president and CEO. The company’s board elected Hunter to lead the company based on his industry experience, entrepreneurial approach and vision. The board’s assessment of Hunter has been proven correct over the last six years.
Hunter leads by example, with a strong work ethic and the ability to motivate and instill confidence and excitement in managers and associates around the globe. He strengthened the executive team to facilitate the increasing size and scope of the company. The team fosters a culture of entrepreneurial thinking, with numerous cross-functional global teams involved in initiatives such as new product development, lean enterprise and operational improvement.
In quarterly meetings led by Gordon and other company leaders, the team shares financial results, strategies and successes with the company’s 5,500 associates around the world, helping to create a culture in which everyone is important, everyone has a role and everyone is valued, regardless of job or location.
When Gordon became CEO, the company was well established in its three business segments. Gordon saw opportunities for the company to further expand its presence in the electronics industry and increase its growth in Asia. Under Gordon’s leadership, Littelfuse has continued to invest in strengthening all three businesses around the world, with a focus on the high-growth electronics market. While the company was founded in 1927 with the investing of a small, fast-acting fuse that prevented sensitive test meters from burning out, it has changed. Through internal growth and strategic acquisitions in the U.K., Germany, Taiwan, China and Canada, Littelfuse today is the global leader in circuit protection, with 64 percent of the electronics business and 14 percent electrical.
