At Lincoln Electric, community service touches every aspect of the company and involves all of its resources.
Many of Lincoln’s employees and management members — led by Chairman and CEO John Stropki — give of their time, money and other resources, helping to support various charitable causes that encompass a variety of community needs.
Formally established in 1952, the Lincoln Electric Foundation has supported scores of initiatives, developments and organizations that contribute to the economy and the quality of life in the Greater Cleveland area. In 2009, the board of directors of Lincoln Electric Holdings Inc. approved grants totaling $1 million.
Some of the organizations that have benefited from Lincoln-financed grants include JumpStart, MAGNET’s “Dream it, Do It” campaign, the new Center for Innovation and Growth at Baldwin-Wallace College, work force development programs at Cuyahoga Community College, as well as grants to benefit cancer patients and survivors.
Lincoln’s corporate charity work includes the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and an annual golf event for the American Lung Association. The golf outing is one of the Northeast Ohio chapter’s most successful fund-raising events.
Lincoln’s grants and fund-raising has also aided organizations that work in the areas of conservation, education, health and wellness, and the arts. Lincoln has contributed to the Grand River Partners support group and Ducks Unlimited to help preserve and restore the land and waters in Northeast Ohio.
Lincoln has also supported Cleveland Scholarship Programs, Youth Opportunities Unlimited and the Fenn Academy, a Cleveland State University program aimed at attracting high school students to the engineering field.
On the health and wellness front, Lincoln contributed to the building campaign for Lake Health’s new TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township. In Euclid, where Lincoln is headquartered, the company has remained active in supporting Euclid Hospital and was the lead sponsor for the hospital’s new emergency room.
In the area of arts and culture, Lincoln has supported The Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the Cleveland Orchestra’s Youth Orchestra. For the past two years, Lincoln has sponsored Mentor’s summer concert series as well as the Marine Corps Bugle and Drum Band concerts.
