Stephen P. Blythe has blended his love of flying with his passion for giving back to the community and devised a great way to make a huge difference in people’s lives. Blythe, the CEO at Blytheco LLC, is heavily involved with LIGA International and the Flying Samaritans. Since 1934, LIGA has been dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the people of Sinaloa, Mexico, by providing free health care and education.
As a volunteer pilot and clinic worker, Blythe identified many opportunities to automate the monthly process of coordinating the clinic volunteer, pilots and clinic coordinators.
He established a complete volunteer tracking program that enables volunteers to provide contact information, photos, skill sets and availability to sign up for scheduled clinic trips. Volunteers can also make donations and pay for trip costs directly via the website that Blythe developed. His efforts have been shared with other humanitarian organizations, and Blythe is working with them to help increase their efficiency and give them more time to focus on the people they are trying to help.
“What greater purpose could there possibly be than to be a part of providing a solution to those in need,” Blythe says. “It’s been a wonderful journey working with others who have like mindsets and commitments to make a difference in our community and our world. I hope my involvement can serve as an example to my peers of how important community service truly is.”
Blythe has also worked hard to engage others in his passion. He has personally offered plane rides as a silent auction prize each of the last five years and, along with his wife, has regularly participated in Relay for Life events for the American Cancer Society.
“I am blessed to be doing what I love and helping others while doing so, but honestly, what I have received for my efforts and contributions far outweigh what I give,” Blythe says.
