Tapping the Internet demographic

A radio program about the Internet that originated in Pittsburgh is going national, and in a top 10 way.

The program, “The Internet Insider with David Radin,” launched in August in the top 10 U.S. radio markets, ranked by computer penetration. The one-hour show offers listeners practical information and tips on using the Internet.

Radin’s company, M. Masters Corp., says the program is within earshot of 75 million people using 44 million computers in nine of the 12 largest media markets, a factor that it believes makes it attractive to advertisers who market computer and Internet-related products and services.

The program is broadcast locally live on KDKA-AM at noon Saturdays. The national lineup includes powerhouse stations WABC in New York, KRLA in Los Angeles and WCKG-FM in Chicago.

According to Arbitron, “Internet Insider” listeners stay for the full hour of the program, week in and week out — the highest rating possible. More than 90 percent of the audience uses the World Wide Web, and 80 percent use their computers in business as well as at home. The program rates high among males over 35.

With an audience like that, “The Internet Insider” could very well be top 10 with a megabyte.
