Abrasive Technology has completed a 40,000-square-foot expansion at its headquarters in Westerville. The expansion features new sophisticated telecommunications and manufacturing computer systems. The company also completed construction of its new manufacturing facility in Elgin, Ill.

WDA&E, formerly known as Wolfgang Doerschlag Architects & Engineers, has broken ground for the renovation of its new corporate headquarters at 1201 Dublin Road, Columbus. The company has purchased the long vacant Corporate One Credit Union building on the edge of Grandview and is spending approximately $2 million on renovations.

WDA&E has also signed contracts with clients Burger King to improve the efficiency of the kitchen design and reduce overall construction costs of its new store prototype and with Schlotzsky’s as one of three master architects for new store locations.

Columbus-based Profitworks Ltd. has taken on Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. and Harper Engraving & Printing as new clients.

Schmidt Nursery Co., a division of WinnScapes Inc. landscaping and lawn care maintenance in Gahanna, has been selected by Feinknopf Macioce Schappa Architects to participate in the construction of the Promise for Life memorial, one of the first major Holocaust memorials in the United States occupying land not owned by the government or a Jewish organization. The memorial is located on property owned by Trinity Lutheran Church at 2199 E. Main St., Columbus.

The National School Public Relations Association has presented Shaw Video Communications an award for the year’s Most Effective Video Presentation for its program for Westerville City Schools entitled “Preparing Students for the 21st Century.”

Hoggy’s restaurants have been awarded the Ohio Pork Producer’s Council’s Pork Award. The council honors a restaurant with this award for serving unique and delicious pork entrees. Hoggy’s also was the Grand Reserve Champion for ribs at the Ohio State Fair.

The Greater Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau has won the 1999 Inner Circle Award presented by Association Meetings magazine for being one of the top 15 convention bureaus in the country and a Top Destination Award for 1999 by Facilities & Destinations magazine in recognition for its excellence in the convention and meeting planning industry. Both awards are voted upon by each magazine’s readers.

Clary Communications Inc. has received two awards of excellence from the International Association of Business Communicators’ Columbus Chapter Bronze Quill Awards. The awards were for the 1997 annual report produced for AirNet Inc. and the Capital Center Fund brochure for Capital University.

Bell-Haun Systems Inc. has been awarded new contracts with Westerville-based Progressive Medical Inc., One Write Co. in Lancaster and Columbus-based J.C. Direct Mail Inc.

Aire-Flo Corp., a Columbus heating, ventilation and air conditioning company, has been designated a 1999 Carrier Distinguished Dealer. This is Carrier’s most prestigious dealer award and has been given to 50 dealers nationally since 1994. Aire-Flo was one of nine dealers chosen this year from700 nominees.

Equity, a full-service real estate development company in Columbus, targets completion of Settle Muter Electric’s new corporate headquarters in Gahanna this month. The new facility will accommodate approximately 70 employees and have a large warehouse.

Zook Advertising Inc. and CPMedia Services Inc. have established a working partnership to promote Jersey Mike’s Submarine and Sandwich stores in the Central Ohio area.

Realtor Magazine, published by the National Board of Realtors, profiled The Schenk Co. as a “Company to Watch,” citing it for its first-half performance in tripling sales volume over last year.

Kerr Beaute Inc. salon on Henderson Road is moving and expanding to a new spa, Tranquility … by Kerr, at 791 Bethel Road. A grand opening is expected this month.

Sports & Social Clubs of the U.S. has purchased Columbus-based Capital City Soccer as an addition to the Columbus Sport & Social Club. Columbus Sport & Social Club obtained Capital City Soccer’s 44 full-field soccer teams with more than 660 participants.
