Columbus-based Audio Visual Technologies has received national recognition for its work on the Columbus Blue Jackets Fan Preview Center. The company won a Merit Award at the annual Trade Show Exhibitor Association’s national Exhibit Focus Awards Program. Audio Visual Technologies’ work on the center also has earned the company the Society for Marketing Professionals 1999 Marketing Excellence Award for Best Multi-Media Piece.
Gerbig, Snell/Weisheimer & Associates Inc. has received eight IN-AWE awards from the San Francisco-based Medical Marketing Association. The agency won awards for work created on behalf of Astra Pharmaceuticals, Abbott Laboratories, Pharmacia & Upjohn, Eli Lilly and Co. and The Ohio State University Medical Center.
BSI Industries Inc. of Columbus and Impulse Wear Inc. of Blacklick have been recognized with Governor’s Excellence in Exporting Awards. For 14 years, the Governor’s E-Awards have recognized Ohio companies that have increased sales volume through exports, boosted Ohio-based employment as a direct result of export activity or developed and implemented a strategy to expand their international sales. More than 213 companies have received the award since 1991.
The Shell Oil Co. and Jack Nicklaus Productions, sponsors of Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf, have selected the Longaberger Golf Club as the site for the pairing between golfers Karrie Webb and Dottie Pepper.
CompuServe Interactive Services Inc. of Upper Arlington has received a 60 percent tax credit for a five-year term from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority to expand operations. CompuServe is developing a network operating center for all service-related issues. The estimated $542,343 project is expected to create 25 jobs and retain 471 within the first three years of operation.
GrafX Packaging Corp., to be located in Canal Winchester, has received a 60 percent tax credit from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority for a seven-year term. The company, a subsidiary of Montreal-based St. Laurent Paperboard, plans to construct a 125,000-square-foot manufacturing and distribution facility. The estimated $16.3 million project is expected to create 70 jobs within the first three years of operation.
RMD Advertising has received the National Communicator Award for Keeper Cabinets’ Pro-To-Call Video Program. The award was judged on concept, content, copywriting and creativity. Only 18 percent of the video productions entered in this nationwide search for excellence win an award.
NGDA Interactive Communications has received its first Healthcare Advertising award, sponsored by Healthcare Marketing Report. The publication recognized the company’s creative work and design for The Ohio State University Medical Center’s Web site, which contains more than 1,800 pages of information and receives more than 9,700 visits a month.
Columbus industrial design firm Design Central has won a Gold Award in the 1999 Industrial Design Excellence Awards competition for its design of Flexible Footwear. There were more than 1,131 entries in this year’s competition. Design Central’s achievement culminates an endeavor it undertook seven years ago on behalf of Columbus-based Flexible Footwear Technologies Ltd.
