Deborah Wood, founder and CEO of DWA Healthcare Communications Group, has long been committed to excellence in all that she does. Wood’s diverse background, including a master of fine arts degree, has helped strengthen her along the path of building DWA Healthcare from the ground up. The company, which Wood founded in 1994 as a small, independent medical communications company, is based on solid corporate values that encourage superior services to clients and create a positive and rewarding work environment for its employees.

Wood’s passion and leadership have long guided the solutions provider in the health care education arena toward success every day, and she continues to inspire others with her vision, determination and achievements.

From fighting through the financial constraints of being a new venture in DWA’s early days to growing to more than 140 employees today, Wood has inspired teamwork, encouraging creative and innovative ideas, and unifying people toward the common goal of excellence. Wood and DWA measure success not only by the bottom line but by the community and culture of the workplace, and the company embodies the phrase, “healthy work environment.” In a recent survey of employees, when asked what their favorite part of being employed by the company was, the overwhelming majority responded with “the people.”

In a time of economic uncertainty and apprehension, DWA posted a 68 percent overall growth rate in 2008 as a result of the passion, creativity and talent of its employees.

Wood sets high standards for herself and her company and inspires her team to achieve those standards. Over the past 15 years, she has infused her sense of quality, innovation and creativity into her team, turning a handful of dedicated employees into a corporate family.
