Sergio Pecori is an independent thinker who is willing to take risks in the face of uncertainty. As president and CEO of employee-owned Hanson Professional Services Inc., he takes calculated risks and builds consensus among his colleagues and employees.

He excels at communicating his vision with all levels of Hanson’s constituents, including employee shareholders, board members, clients and the public.

Pecori was the corporate champion, overseeing the company’s realignment from a geographic to a market-driven focus. This change closely aligned personnel with the markets and clients they serve, promoting a focused approach to concentrate on the market and relationships with clients. The realignment allowed the company to better learn a client’s business to establish more of a partnership environment. The first year after the realignment showed a 20 percent increase in revenues.

His plan for future growth continues to be the promotion of diversified engineering and architectural services into new markets and continued expansion through teaming arrangements. The focused growth includes new geographical and business-niche areas where the company can do more for its clients.

“Most of our growth has come from efforts to meet our customers’ needs,” says Pecori. “When one of our major customers wanted us to provide more complete services, we added architecture, and mechanical and electrical engineering. When we need to be located in a certain area to provide service to our customer, we open an office there. We base our growth on partnerships we have with our long-term customers and that’s the way we’ll grow in the future.”
