Somewhere between the supermarket deli case and a gourmet restaurant lies City Cuisine Inc. The new University Heights eatery, slated to open this month, is capitalizing on the growing popularity of the personal chef industry by offering home-cooked meals to go at its new 2,500-square-foot location.
The brainchild of owners Greg and Michelle Shovary, City Cuisine Inc. offers a selection of prepared foods that customers can take home, heat and place on the dining room table, boasting a high-end gourmet offering with everything from soups to pasta and sauces to seafood.
Its for everybody who doesnt have the time or the desire to cook with their busy lifestyle, says Greg Shovary, adding that the face of fast food across the nation is changing to include more upscale options such as City Cuisine. The whole process started with McDonalds offering fast food and evolved into this.
An average dinner runs between $9 to $12 per person, while lunch checks in at around $6 to $8. Although City Cuisine is the first eatery of its kind in the Cleveland area, Shovary says the concept has been wildly successful in other parts of the country.
The major company we were taking this from to fit Cleveland is Eatzis, he says. They are based out of Houston and Dallas and they also have stores in Atlanta and New York City right now. They are larger, about 8,000 to 10,000 square feet, but our idea is geared off of that.
