Whom do you admire most in business and why?
We’re just now celebrating our 100th anniversary. I would salute all the prior leaders here who have had the foresight to create six generations of successful succession planning to sustain this organization.
There can’t be enough said about that. I give them a tremendous amount of credit. For that matter, any leader who creates solid succession plans, I admire. It’s huge to create a business that’s not just for the moment.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
I think it goes back to preparation. Prepare yourself, no matter what. Preparation is the difference between good and great.
What one person, past or present, would you love to talk to?
President John Adams. He was the true architect of how this country was formed. His vision of what this country would be in centuries afterwards is just unbelievable. His vision to plan and take care of people and to serve people in the future was just unparalleled.
