Twenty years of burning passion

Full coverage of the 2006 Entrepreneur Of The Year program is available in our July 2006 Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky edition.

Innovators built this nation. Henry Ford’s modern assembly line revolutionized the manufacturing process. Thomas Edison developed the first practical light bulb. And Bill Gates helped bring user-friendly computers and programs into homes, offices and schools across the globe.

The passion that burned in these renowned innovators still burns in today’s entrepreneurial visionaries. Ernst & Young created the Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) Award — the Award for Business Leadership — to honor the accomplishments of the great men and women who make our economy vibrant.

For the past 20 years, we have proudly recognized outstanding business leaders across South Central Ohio and Kentucky. Each year, EOY finalists and award recipients demonstrate incredible depth of character as they develop new technologies, create faster ways to distribute goods and services and improve the quality of life for people around them. Again, the individuals we honor this year are no exception.

This year’s EOY program participants have succeeded through turbulent economic times and emerged even stronger. As they forged ahead, they may not have listened when told it couldn’t be done, and they continue to take chances that average people consider too risky.

They are leaders rather than followers. We are inspired by their achievements.

As we look toward tomorrow’s entrepreneurs, join us in congratulating the leaders of today, innovators that have achieved their American dream. The following pages highlight those individuals who pursued this coveted distinction.

Congratulations on your continued success.

Honoring entrepreneurs

Celebrating entrepreneurs and the businesses they build and grow has been a priority for Ernst & Young for more than two decades. We are proud to continue this distinguished tradition through the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® awards.

For more than 20 years, Ernst & Young has recognized thousands of entrepreneurs throughout South Central Ohio and Kentucky whose vision, leadership and record of achievement continue to impact our communities. As a leader in guiding these companies, we feel it’s important to honor them and recognize their impact, while encouraging others to follow in their footsteps.

Ernst & Young believes entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of our economy. Whether it’s an innovative new business model or establishing new industries and trends, just about everything begins with an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs and the jobs they create will guide us through these economic times.

We need to celebrate entrepreneurship as the key solution for economic recovery.

This year’s finalists went through a rigorous judging process. The program’s independent judging panel considered several business and personal accomplishments.

A thorough assessment of the company’s recent financial performance is certainly relevant but not the only factor. Creativity in management style and product innovation is extremely important and highly regarded, as are community involvement, flexible employee work arrangements and the overcoming of obstacles by the entrepreneur to grow and sustain the business.

Thanks to the entrepreneurs who have participated in this year’s program and, more importantly, for creating an entrepreneurial spirit in South Central Ohio and Kentucky.

Your visions and ability to achieve them have made significant contributions to improve the quality of life for those in our region.

Driven to succeed

For two decades, Ernst & Young and the Entrepreneur Of The Year® (EOY) awards have honored entrepreneurial men and women and the companies they build and grow. During that time we have chronicled their capacity to transform organizations, create new products and industries, enrich individual lives, and contribute to the vibrancy of national economies.

Each year, the South Central Ohio & Kentucky EOY finalists and award recipients demonstrate incredible depth of character as they develop new technologies, create faster ways to distribute goods and services, and improve the quality of life for people around them.
