The Old Head of Kinsale
Nothing can prepare you for the beauty of this Irish gem
I had the good fortune to be invited to stay and play golf at Old Head Golf Links by a close friend and member. He was hosting a number of his senior executives for several days and asked me to join the group. Having played golf at a number of top courses in Ireland and Scotland, I thought I had an idea of what to expect.
But when you drive down the narrow road and come over the last hill and finally see the land in person, only then do you understand. It is a property of uncompromising beauty, a 220-acre diamond of land that sticks out three miles into the Celtic Sea, punctuated by a black-and-white striped lighthouse at the far end. In between are 18 of the most scenic golf holes you will ever play. All I could say was, “Eat your heart out Pebble Beach.”
