What is the greatest business lesson you’ve learned, and from whom?
From my dad, Chet, who said, ‘If someone is going to pay you a buck, make sure they get $1.10 in value.’
Who has taught you the most about business?
My former employer, Roger Penske. He taught me how to take risks, how to feel comfortable outside your comfort zone and to have an unrelenting pursuit of excellence.
What universal truths have you learned about leading a business?
There is no substitute for the truth. In the end, you can’t live in a fantasy world. Every decision you make and every action you take has to be based on a realistic assessment of the truth.
