What was your most interesting job?

I used to collect samples of storm sewer water after rainstorms when I was in college. I only worked when it rained.

What is the best business lesson you’ve learned?

Always hire people who are better than you are.

What universal truth have you learned about leadership?

A leader is measured by the degree to which he or she is followed. So you have to find the right style for you. I’ve seen leaders be effective with inspiration. I’ve seen leaders be effective with fear and intimidation. You have to find the style that works for you, and then you have to stay authentic.

What is your definition of success?

Getting out there every morning and looking at the day in front of me. I enjoy being excited about what is in front of me.
