The Indianapolis economy continues to exhibit signs of slowing growth, even with numerous positive trends.The local unemployment rate declined from one year ago as it has consistently throughout the past year. Another positive trend is increased industrial electricity consumption. Weakening indicators include declining home sales in the Midwest during the last year along with a decline in the number of housing permits in Indianapolis. Cargo tonnage passing through the Indianapolis International Airport increased, but travel slowed with a significantly reduced volume of airline passengers.
