What was your first job?
I worked for the parks department painting playground equipment on the beach. It was Brookhaven Township in Suffolk County on Long Island. It taught me that I didn’t want to work for the government.
Who has been the biggest influence on you?
The chairman of our company, Gary Miller, and the majority shareholder of our company, Nate Shapiro, are both the highest-quality moral character people I’ve met in my life. They really gave me the foundation that you could be honest and loyal and succeed without being cutthroat. Those two gentlemen taught me to conduct myself with integrity in everything I do.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Be honest, be fair and be yourself.
Who from history would you have liked to have met and had a conversation with?
Jesus Christ. I would have asked him, ‘What can you tell me about the influence and importance of religion in a world gone mad?’
