Whom do you admire most in business and why?

My father (Inter/Media Chairman and CEO Sydney Yallen). He grew up in the depression, he was in the Navy during WWII, and he’s totally self-made. Why do I respect and admire him so much? Because of his reputation. My father’s reputation and the respect that he garners from other executives in our industry is amazing. It can take me 1,000 words to sell a concept, and all my dad has to do is nod and simply say this is the right direction, and people buy that, and it’s only years of experience and a stellar reputation that can afford such respect.

What keeps you up at night?

I could have gone on for pages but continuing sales growth, payroll, the economy, and keeping clients and our team happy.

If you could be one superhero, who would you be and why?

Jack Bauer (the protagonist in the television series ‘24’). He’s irreverent, he always finds himself in impossible situations, but he finds the solutions even though it might not be the most popular or politically correct choice. He always finds himself in a bind, and he always gets himself out of it, and he always is making a choice he can live with. When he shaves in the morning, he’s OK with it, and I make the analogy to a CEO, how a CEO will evaluate the risk, and he makes hundreds of crucial decisions at light speed under tremendous pressure. It’s the same thing, it’s being quick on your feet. And then, finally, what I respect is his loyalty, his ethics, his commitment and talent. I also tie this into we’re the agency for the U.S. Army, so I think he’s truly an army of one, and he’s very army strong.
