What is the best business lesson you’ve learned?

The first lesson is to always be a sponge. I learn from the people around me all the time. The second lesson is you can’t be afraid to fail. If you encounter failure, you need to keep learning and keep taking things in stride.

What traits or skills are essential for a business leader?

You need good vision, as far as being able to see the future. You also have to be a good manager. You need to pick your people well, and then you need to be able to lead them.

What universal truth have you learned about leadership?

You have to put the right people in leadership positions, and sometimes that can be a difficult task.

What is your definition of success?

Winning for our clients, winning for our consumers, and we need to win for our shareholders. If we can do all that and still have some fun, that is a good definition of success.
