First job: Sorting bottles in a Coca-Cola plant

What has been your greatest leadership lesson?

You’ve got to listen. Don’t make your mind up until you hear all sides of the story. But, then you have to be decisive once you have all that information.

Gallatin on leading a health care organization: You can’t do it as a one-person organization. You really have to engage the organization as much as you can in making decisions. Now, having said that, you can’t paralyze the organization by making sure that everybody has the right to approve every decision. You really need to appropriately delegate, but you also need that delegation to be effective.
