Gordon Scherer was selected as CEO/managing partner by Horovitz, Rudoy & Roteman. The firm has selected Paul Rudoy as managing partner elect, Israel Rudoy as CFO, Alex Kindler as management consulting services partner, Leo Hannah as partner-in-charge of assurance services and Thomas Ryan as partner-in-charge of not-for-profit and employees benefits.

Heath Winsheimer was promoted to manager in Alpern Rosenthal's accounting and auditing department. Karl Jarek joined the firm as a principal in its business valuation/litigation support services group. Jay Bissell and Ed Flohr were promoted to senior manager in the tax department and Deanna Conte and Michele O'Leary were promoted to senior manager in the accounting and audit department.

Michael Brooks joined the business valuation group of KFMR.

Douglas Zemba and Maria Bean joined the assurance services team at Horovitz Rudoy & Roteman. Kenneth Brady has joined the tax services team.

ARCHITECTURE/CONSTRUCTION

Dave Jesko was promoted to residential division field superintendent at Burns & Scalo Roofing Inc. Steve Lamoreau was promoted to commercial division roofing estimator.

Gretchen Kurzawa joined the professional staff of WTW Architects in Pittsburgh.

Tower Engineering promoted Stephen Kisak, who heads the electrical engineering department, to firm principal.

Joseph Brennan joined Massaro Co. as project manager. Mark Hartman was promoted to director of pre-construction services.

John Deklewa & Sons Inc. hired Grace McGee as assistant project manager for its special projects group.

David Gibson and Donald Vezzi joined the project management team at PWCampbell, and are responsible for on-site construction management, as well as client relations, project development/scheduling, vendor and staff management.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

Gary Flasco was appointed vice president and manager of the Coraopolis office of National City Bank. Jodi Amos was appointed vice president of the Private Client Group in Pittsburgh.

HEALTH CARE

Kathi Boyle joined Metro Family Practice as executive director. She is responsible for overall administration and management.

Tamara Bauer joined St. Barnabas Health System as admissions director for St. Banabas Nursing Home, Valencia Woods Nursing Center and The Arbors at Valencia Woods. Anthony Savannah was promoted to marketing manager.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

Bally Design hired Lisa Carvajal as an industrial designer and Julia Frumkin as a mechanical engineer.

LEGAL AFFAIRS

Debra Baltzell joined Thorp Reed & Armstrong as its executive director.

Mark Knouse, former Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce Vice President for Public Affairs, joined Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling as a government affairs specialist. John Cuthbertson was hired as of counsel within the corporate practice group.

James Carroll, a member of Rothman Gordon, won election as president-elect of the board of governors of the Allegheny Bar Association. Carroll was also elected to membership in the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. Phyllis Pocopio, a member of the firm, will chair the workers' compensation section of the Allegheny County Bar Association for the 2003-2004 term. Jeanine DeBor joined Rothman Gordon and will practice in the areas of commercial and general litigation.

Dennis Roman was re-elected to serve another three-year term on the board of directors of Grogan Gaffam.

Mike Klutch joined Meyer, Darragh, Buckler, Bebenek & Eck as a partner.

Robert Bernstein, managing partner of the Bernstein Law Firm, was selected to chair the Allegheny County Bar Association's professional ethics committee. Jon McKechnie, an attorney with the firm, was elected to serve a three-year term with the bankruptcy and commercial law section council of the Allegheny County Bar Association.

Grogan Gaffam named Jeanine Bertig, Gregory Castelli and Jay Costa Jr. shareholders of the firm.

Kimberly Taylor was elected partner by Morgan Lewis & Bockius. She concentrates her practice on public and private company merger and acquisition transactions and securities offerings.

Joel Pfeffer, a partner with Meyer, Unkovic & Scott, was appointed to the first national committee on religious workers of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Lewis Kushner, with the firm Rothman Gordon, was named to the American Arbitration Association's national panel of mediators.

Tammy Singleton-English was appointed to the long-range planning committee of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh.

MANUFACTURING

Alcoa Home Exteriors named Claude Brown vice president of technology. The building products manufacturer selected Antonio Alves Rodrigues Pugas vice president of finance.

Woodworks Unlimited Inc. hired Richard Reynolds as regional sales manager for Pennsylvania and western New York.

TRANSPORTATION

Pitt Ohio Express promoted Chad England to terminal manager of its Roanoke, Va., facility. Dave Brehl was reassigned to the Pittsburgh facility as terminal manager and Dean Yockey was promoted to eastern region safety supervisor.

Rich Coyner was hired by Keystone Dedication Logistics as vice president and general manager of operations.
