The Urban Redevelopment Authority has approved the sale of a five-acre property to the Rubinoff Co. for development of a distribution facility to lease to the UPMC Health System. The total cost of the South Side Works project is estimated at $3.96 million.

Development Dimensions International and FORE Systems Inc. have teamed together to create interactive employee training software. DDI's interactive training software is being adapted to run on FORE System's ATM network. With the new software, companies will be able to deliver training to employees' desktops through a corporate intranet, wide area network or local area network.

WTW Architects was selected to design a two-phase 154,000-square-foot expansion and a 40,000-square-foot renovation of the Black Box warehouse/distribution center in Lawrence, Pa.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh approved contracts for the design and construction of improvements on Isabella Street on the north side of the new ALCOA headquarters building. The improvements have been designed by Gateway Engineers and will be completed by ASCO Construction, Turner Construction and Duquesne Light Co. The URA also authorized two agreements with GAI Consultants Inc. for predevelopment work at the Nine Mile Run slag site.
