A continuing commitment

Welcome to the 2006 Pillar Awards. For the ninth consecutive year, Medical Mutual of Ohio is proud to honor companies for their good deeds and contributions to worthy causes in Northeast Ohio.

If there is one common denominator among the 2006 Pillar Award winners, it is that they all distinguish themselves through leading by example. Each company has truly helped improve the quality of life for Northeast Ohioans, and I congratulate them for their understanding of commitment to community.

As a founding sponsor of the Pillar Awards, along with Smart Business Network, I believe that Medical Mutual has a responsibility to help improve the communities it serves.

We strive to live up to that responsibility in everything we do.

Hardly a day goes by that I am not inspired by the volunteer spirit and the efforts of Medical Mutual’s employee volunteer committee, S.H.A.R.E., which stands for Serve, Help, Aid, Reach and Educate. Devoting thousands of hours and raising thousands of dollars in support of worthy organizations and causes in Northeast Ohio, this committee helps coordinate more than 25 events involving nearly half of our company’s 2,500 employees.

It is only fitting that one of the annual Pillar Awards is a special S.H.A.R.E. Award, given to the company whose employees best exemplify the values of Medical Mutual’s S.H.A.R.E. committee.

“Improving the communities we serve” is a common theme for all of the Pillar Award recipients. Once again, Medical Mutual is proud to be in such outstanding company.

KENT CLAPP is chairman, president and CEO of Medical Mutual of Ohio.
