Culture of Giving

With its 21-year history of community engagement, it is evident that giving back is an action Hyland Software Inc. values. Its passion for community involvement has grown as Hyland adds more programs for its employees, which helps build a sustained culture of giving.
Financially, the company matches dollar-for-dollar, up to $250, to its employees’ contributions to qualifying nonprofits, and it donates $250 for 24-hours of volunteer work performed annually. In addition, Hyland donates to nonprofits where employees serve on the board of directors, associate boards and committees.
Beyond dollars, Hyland employees donate their time as well. Hyland offers volunteer time off, which incentivizes employees to take up to 12 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer at nonprofits of their choice. Many take advantage of this time to give back to the charities and causes that resonate with them.
During the company’s recent Summer of Service event, approximately 300 employees volunteered at 10 locations throughout the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood. Employees spent the day building a playground for the Urban Community School, cleaning up the beach at Edgewater Park and sorting seeds at a local library. In that one day, 12 projects were completed, totaling 1,158 volunteer hours.
Every year Hyland employees give back to the community during the holiday season. During the 2013 Adopt-A-Family program, employees helped 26 families prepare for winter by outfitting them with warm coats, hats, scarves, gloves and waterproof boots.
The company also hosts six on-site blood drives annually, which, on average, helps nearly 1,000 patients in area hospitals.
