Dimon R. McFerson, chairman and CEO of Nationwide, has been appointed to The Ohio State University board of trustees. Under McFerson’s leadership, Nationwide has been a strong supporter of the Fisher College of Business and the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. He served for seven years as chairman of the board of Ohio Dominican College and chairman of the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges board of trustees.
Worthington-based Ultryx Corp., an e-business solution provider for the manufacturing industry, has named Roderick W. Munn vice president of operations and Ralph King vice president of sales and market development. Munn is a former managing partner of ECM International Group Inc., a privately held management consulting firm, where he directed operations of management teams throughout the United States and Madrid, Spain. Prior to joining Ultryx, King was vice president of strategic development for Genesys Software, a developer of human resource management systems. King was a co-founder of Ultimate Software Group.
Greg Schenk of The Schenk Co. Inc. has been appointed by the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce to the Small Business Council for 2000.
Larry Marryott has been named president at Cornerstone Partners Inc., a Columbus-based executive search firm specializing in information technology, Internet, e-commerce, software application and other technology-related industries. Marryott joined the firm in 1998 with a background in executive recruiting.
Ron Etter has been promoted to vice president, creative director, at Lord, Sullivan & Yoder Inc. He was previously vice president of broadcast production and copy group supervisor. Etter joined LSY in 1980 as senior copywriter.
Doug Talbott has been named senior vice president of government affairs for the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce. Talbott served as director of boards and commissions in Gov. Taft’s office since the beginning of the new administration. Talbott previously served as deputy director of the Governor’s Regional Economic Development offices, Ohio Department of Development and the Central Ohio Regional representative for the Ohio Department of Development. He is a member of the Columbus Speech & Hearing Center board of trustees.
Mansfield Plumbing Products Inc. has named Brion Gompper vice president of engineering. Prior to joining Mansfield Plumbing, Gompper was director of engineering for Westfalia-Surge Technologies International, a Wisconsin manufacturer of commercial dairy and specialty chemicals.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has appointed Steve Martenet as vice president of sales. Martenet oversees the management and development of Anthem’s group and national account sales in the Columbus area in addition to his responsibilities as regional director of sales in Columbus, a position he has held since 1998.
E-business application service provider fourthchannel inc. has named Leslie McNeill the company’s new vice president of marketing. McNeill joins fourthchannel from Open Text Inc., where he was executive vice president, global marketing, responsible for a global team of 45 professionals who planned and executed e-business marketing programs.
George Zimmermann, former state tourism director and currently the senior executive in charge of all sales and marketing for CallTech Communications Inc., has been elected chair of the Ohio Bicentennial Commission. Zimmermann succeeds Dr. Amos J. Loveday Jr., who chaired the Bicentennial Commission since its inception in 1996. Loveday, the state historic preservation officer, will join the board of trustees of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
The Columbus AIDS Task Force has appointed director of client service Lori Yosick as the agency’s interim director. Yosick succeeds Gloria J. T. Smith, who served as executive director since 1988. Smith is moving to Florida, where she will serve as executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association of Tampa Bay. Yosick will serve as interim executive director for approximately nine to 12 months while the agency’s board of trustees conducts a national search for a permanent executive director.
Dale J. Shipley has been appointed executive director of the Ohio Emergency Management Agency. Shipley served as executive director of under Govs. Celeste and Voinovich from 1988 to 1998. In 1998, President Clinton appointed Shipley as director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region V in Chicago.
